Rock solid performance!

So now that I have been working with the ThinkPad for a few weeks and gotten used to how it works with linux, my partner in the affiliate marketing game said

“It’s time you started to work.” Work turned out to be writing review content for one of our new store sites. Motorcycle tire reviews.info.

Now I been writing stuff for hubpages, forum postings, and some personal writings that I am collecting for a book someday, but this assignment was the first “real” internet project for me. It turned out to be a lot of fun, pretty easy, and even though I did all the reviews in about 5 hours it wasn’t that bad. My good old ThinkPad was right there with me the whole time.

Since it doesn’t have a Wi-fi card built in I had to go down to the local Best Buy and buy one, let me tell you the Belkin N150 usb wi-fi adapter works like a charm. No lag in start up, downloading is fast and sure, page loading in a snap, man it’s like a new ThinkPad that was built last week.

I logged on to the wordpress admin page and away I went, for a computer that is more than 10 years old this thing is a blast to work with. The crunchbang10 distro is so easy to understand, the file system is straight forward in it’s layout, navigating the programs is usually done with one or two clicks. Man, why did I ever agree to using that compaq with windows on it, Hey I forgot what I was saying, just thinking about how much more I really like linux over the Windows7 I was using.

Anyway, Once I got the review written the upload took seconds to complete, the update to the website happened in a blink and on the the next one, just like that. The really cool part was how this thinkpad operated, no freezing up, losing the IP address because of the wandering wi-fi at Safeway was tripping out, rock solid performance. Almost like using an Apple Macbook pro, did I say that out loud’‘)

Now don’t get me wrong here, and remember I am no expert computer programmer, but Dude, this thinkpad is just about the best laptop I have ever used. Last year my friend let me use his old Apple G4 until it finally died 4 months later(I wrote the story already) That laptop was the one that I really learned on and Apple is the shit in my book., but alas not everybody has $2000 to buy a new Macbook air right? Anyway I learned using the best OS on the planet and Linux being a Unix based system is right up there too.

Hey I might not get to the top of the programmer mountain but I know that now I got a solid machine under neath me things are getting better for me. I have the confidence to do more, am willing to try doing the design stuff that in the past was a little bit scary. Hey I am an artist right, Picaso said, “Art is for artists, paintings are for sale.”

Yes into the great beyond is getting better and better, so stay tuned for the next installment of My ThinkPad A31....
