Windows!? are you kidding me?

So today I started a new adventure with my ThinkPad, it’s a new motorcycle tire review site that my friend and I started over the weekend. I have the review part while he does all the coding, product assignment, and in general “techie” stuff that I don’t have the skills for.

So far it’s been a cool project, the old ThinkPad A31 is performing very well. Since we installed Linux crunchBang10 on it. Now it works smoother without all the crazy windows glitches and stuff. I am really impressed with the over all speed improvement, the updated softwear, and ease of operation with the new system.

Having multiple tabs open now is simple, keeping track of them all doesn’t take the Data like mental ability’s(yea I watch startrek to much). Just alt-tab and bing-bang-boom there you go! I really like crunchbang10 because now I can do way more stuff intuitively instead of clicking and scrolling through a half dozen ”windows”before I find myself.

Document shearing, image uploading, even music downloading is a snap now. Before this I struggled along trying to find a rhythm to the system. Dude, I don’t know why everybody wants Windows when linux is so much better. All the custom set up stuff that it has makes it so easy to work with it’s like night and day.

The multitask/multiuser operating system makes working so much faster, with the ability to do more tasks with less is great. The multiuser system lets you set up multiple user’s that can do different tasks within the computer. Example here is My friend Casey, he is way more knowledgeable when it come to computers/programming than I will even be, so with the multiuser OS he set up a user account inside the system so that he can manipulate the programs, update and install any software that I need for any of the affiliate marketing, web development, design work that I am doing at the time.

With all this going on and a good laptop to work with now my productivity has increased 3-4 times than it was with the Compaq desktop I was using at a friends house a couple months back. I have even started using Inkscape for some of the design work that is going into some of the store sites we are putting up. Hey, this is my job now might as well get the most out of it right?

Since this little story has become a weekly journal I will be adding more to it at least once or twice a month from now on, maybe even more often who knows? I tell you what though, this is really getting to be fun again now that I got a computer that is a good match for my growing skill set., and increasing interest in online marketing and design.

Who knows maybe on day I’ll be a Linux Guru’‘)
